At the wool sales to-day a firm and active demand was experienced. The catalogue comprised 8300 bales. December 9.

The Lord Mayor of London invites a national subscription to assist in the defence of property in Ireland. A serious collision occurred to-day between three trains on the North London railway, resulting in the loss of nine lives, and injuries of a more or less serious character to many passengers.

No wool sale was held this afternoon, owing to the dense fog which prevailed in London.

At to-day's wool auction 7,300 bales were catalogued, making a total of 129,200 offered Bince the opening. A good demand was experienced.
