THE CATHOLIC VOTE.
[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sin, — The hot-beaded effusion of " Another Catholic would not be worth replying to were it not for the palpable untruths contained in it. He says Catholics are never ordered, instructed, or advised how to vote. This is false; we were advised three years ago as to how we should record our votes, and that was not the first occasion. I repeat, notwithstanding " Another Catholic's " belief that Mr M'Sweeney did not put'the report In question in circulation, that he did do so; and further I have learned on. reliable authority that Mr M'Sweeney informed a gentleman in town that he had a complete understanding with Father Forest on the education question. If this is not mentioning religion in connection with the present contest I should like to know what is. With reference to the " lying and dastardly canards put up to try and injure a candidate," I think " Another Catholic " should prove them to be such, and not make rash assertions. The personal abuse contained in the letter is beneath notice. " Another Catholic " should first " take the mote out of hia own eye before ho sees the beam in another's,'' —I am, &c, Catholic.
