TIMARU.

December 5. A distinct shock of earthquake, lasting some seconds, was felt here at 7.30 this morning. Henry Whitcombe, but recently released from gaol at Dunedin, and thrice previously convicted, was this morning committed for trial for barefaced pocketpicking. A youthful incorrigible was recommitted to the Industrial School. He bad picked up and appropriated a cheque for £5, forging an endorsement.
