CORRESPONDENCE.

POLITICAL TIPS,

[To the Editor of the Daily Teleoeaph.] Sir,--■ Enclosed I forward you the correct tips for the three great coming events, namely, the Borough Plate of 200 soys., the Hawke's Bay County Cup of 200 soys., and the Waipawa County Cup of 200 soys. For this last event we have three horses in train, Orlando, Smythee, and Sydney. Smythee, I hear, is going well, and his trainers feel confident of success, but with such an old stager aa Orlando to contend with I hardly think him good enough. Sydney I think ought to be scratched, for he has not wind enough for either of tbe others. I shall place them—Orlando, 1; Smythee, 2; Sydney, 3. For the Hawke's Bay County Cup we have only two horses, both old warriors, namely, Satan and Squatter. Satan, I bear, is going well in his gallops, and although he is rather fleshy just now, his trainers expect to have him fit by the 9th. Squatter, I bear, has taken a bad cold through his trainer unwisely throwing off the imported clothing and putting an in--, different suit of Hawke's Bay make on him, yet still I expect him to run a plucky race. But I shall place Satan first by a length. For the Borougfo Plate we have three horses in train, Buccaneer, Toogle, and Just-in. Buccaneer is not a stranger, he having run a good race here before, but I hear he has gone off a lot since that time. Toogle, the next on the list, is a little horse, but has hardly stamina enough for this event. He will also be insufficiently trained, having been brought out too late. Last on my list is Just-in, a leggy young colt, but well trained, although kept a little ia the dark. Taking them all as they are I think I will be safe ia placing them Buccaneer, 1; Just-in, 2 ; Toogle, 3.—1 am, &c, Quack. November 30, 1881.
