I have examined sample of M'Ewan's Edinburgh India Palk Alb submitted to me, and, as a sample of what can be done by a good, honest brewor, it is perfect. No foreign cheap bitter, such as Quassia—no Poisonous Drug , , such as Strychnine, Picric, Acid or Cocculus Indicus. Nothing but the Products of Pore Malt and Hops, brewed and fermented in a cool atmosphere, and bottled with care. Admirers of first-class British Beer may use this brand as at present offered for sale without disappointment. As a pure wholesome Bottled Alb it may be strongly recommended. WM. I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's BOTTLED ■ Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains - Alcohol by weight, 5-40 per cent; or by volume, 6-55 per cent. • ! Extractive matter, 30G per cent.; Acid matter, o'l7 per cent. I have also examined the Alb for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Bkers for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centage : 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these are fulfilled in th sample.
