I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Bottled Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains— Alcohol by weight, 5-40 per cent; or by volume, 6 - 55 per cent. Extractive niaUer, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, o'l7 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication 01 their preserce. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Beers for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centago: 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusol oil; and all these are fulfilled In th sample.
