PUT THE SADDLE ON THE RIGHT HORSE.
[To the Editor op the Daily Telegraph.! Sir, —As Captain Russell was pleased to state at Taradale last night that he arranged for the Government grant for the Patea road, I request that you will kindly insert the accompanying correspondence. I would merely call attention to Captain Russell's dates ; he says during the session he arranged it. Captain Russell did make some memoranda, but they referred to the portion of the road between Okawa and Mangawhare. I have never claimed the individual credit of getting this money, but the correspondence shows conclusively that my portion of the business was not smaller than Captain Russell's was.—l am, &C, F. Sutton. November 24, 1881.
