The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company has declared a dividend of 1\ per cent, for the half-year ended September 30th, and a bonus of 2 per cent.
November 21
The result of the election for Stafford has caused considerable interest and discussion, not only in the neighborhood, but throughout England. The Liberals attribute Mr Salt's victory to his local influence in the borough. The Irish, however, support the Conservatives, who claim that the result of the contest must be looked upon as a crushing censure on the Government.
