THE COUNTY ELECTION.

[To THR Editor op the Daily TeiiEgbapb..l Sir,—l should like to ask whether the employment by Captain Russell of his two overseers to actively canvass for him is a contravention of the Corrupt Practices Act. It may be that those who make the laws may know better than others how to evade them with impunity, Whether the letter of the law is observed or not by such action, it is evidently against the spirit of the Act, and opposed to all notions of liberal institutions and the ballot box. Mr Sutton was right in saying that his opponents would leave no stone unturned, and would descend to any tactics, no matter how low, to gain their point.—l am, &c, Tahadale.
