TOWN V. COUNTY ROADS.

[To THE EDITOB OP THE DA__Y TELE-BAPS.] Sir, —When driving out of town the difference of management of the roads in the town as compared with those of the county is very apparent. The only answer to this is that the chairman and members of the County Council have to travel along those roads, while the Mayor and borough councillors know of no other than the road to the Spit or to their own private residences. The state of Hastings-street, with the unlimited quantity of Fhingle upon it, is almost deterring to those who would drive oat on pleasure, but when the boundary of the borough is reached the difference is considerable, tbe roads of tbe county being all good. But the Council has yet to insist that the pig nuisance that exists from the Shamrock Hotel to the Waitangi Creek is abated. This has been many times brought to the notice of the chairman, but still the pigs are allowed to roam about among the rushes to the danger of horsemen and drivers of vehicles. One would think so small a matter could be dealt "with, and which I hope will be done.—l am, &c„ . Agbeeable. November 1, 1881,
