NELSON.

October 29. The Hinemoa sailed for Opunake at 10.30 last night with 20_ officers and men. The Artillery was represented by 47 officers and men, besides a detachment of ten men in charge of a six-pounder, Major Pitt being in command ; the City Rifies, under Captain Bunny, numbered 61; the Stoke Rifles, under Captain Malcolm, 45, and the Waimea Rifles, under Captain Franklyn, 41. The batallion was escorted to the wharf by a torchlight procession, in which the Fire Brigade and Salvage Corps took part, the whole being headed by a band. The streets and wharf were lined with people and it is estimated that no less 4000 saw the volunteers off, and on tbe steamer casting off they were cheered vociferously.
