WELLINGTON.

October 25. The Naval Brigade mustered this morning, when 62 men handed in their names as willing to go to the front, and it is expected that this number will be supplemented by the Petoni contingent of the Brigade. It is intended to call out for active service all volunteers in the district where any corps have tendered their services. This step, it is said, is done simply to place the officers in their proper position. The Wellington men leave for Opunake to-morrow afternoon. The following intercolonial weather exchange has been received :—Sydney, Monday evening. There is fine weather generally, but cloudy on the south coast, and signs of a slight depression on the south-west of Tasmania. The barometer at Albany registers 30.1, at Portland 302, at Hobart 30-1, and at Gabo, Sydney, and Brisbane, 302. (For continuation of neivs see fourth-page?) It has now been decided beyond a doubt by all the leading lights of the age that the wave of heat which lately passed through England is coming for us in a dire3t line. The ladies of Napier would do well to avail themselves of the splendid values we offer in Sunshades, 2/9, 3/6, 4/6, to 30/; also, Parasols, 10/6 to 30/.—Combs & Co.
