Wairoa, October 15,

The sale of absentees' lands for default rates came off yesterday under the authority of the County Council. The attendance was only moderate, and the weather was bad. All the sections, however, found purchassre at fair prices. The following is the result:—Section McLean-street, Constable Shaw, £6 10s : 78, Mrs Carter, £5; 81, Clive road, A. Duff, £6 ; 137, Cabul-street, H. J. Williams, £5 ss; 170, T. Powdrell, £7 10s ; 179, Lucknow-street, A. Poyzer, £8; 257, Paul-street, W. Goldstone, £22 ; 58, next section, W. Goldstone, £19; 288, Queen-street, A. Duff, £15; 289, same buyer, £15; 262, Kopu-road, T. J. Steele, £6 10s; 463, same buyer, £7; 482, Kopu-road, J. Thompson, junr., £4 10s; 647, Apatu-street, T. J. Steele, £6; 669, owner of Clive and Apatu streets, ThompBon, senior, £5; Wairoa military settlement, Opoiti survey district, No. 58, tO acres, T. Peddie, £84; 116, Scamperdown Creek, 50 acres, A. Poyzer, £105; 117, 40 acres, J. G. Kinross, £70; total amount realised, £372 ss. The next sale takes place on Friday 11th November.
