NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

The Wellington Post has the following —" Copies of the report adopted at the annual meeting of the council of the NewZealand Hifle Association have been placed at our disposal. The Council, we find, express their regret at the lack of support accorded during the last year, very few volunteers beyond those who were present at the Nelson meeting have become subscribers. The balance-sheet showed that £93 19s 6d was received as volunteer subscriptions, .£ll lis from civilian members, whilst £84 was received- as company subscriptions. The special prize donations (in money) amounted to £70 10s. The amounts received at the Nelson meeting were £335 9s for entry fees, £94 3s for sighting shots, and £17 *19s 6d for pool, &c. The expenditure for the past year, unfortunately, commenced with a deficiency of about £180 for the previous year. This amount was the first to be liquidated out of tbe Government grant. The expenses at the Nelson meeting wore very much smaller than for the previous year, being £246, as against £570 for 1879-80. Notwithstanding the small amount of Government grant and the paucity of subscriptions, the Association was able to spend in cash. £707 6s 8d in prizes. The inhabitants of Nelson and Marlborough contributed prizes in money and trophies, and there were also a handsome challenge cup given by Messrs Hobson and Co., of London, and a special prize of ten guineas by theiUnion Steam Ship Company. The council of last year remains in office, with the addition of Mr Sutton, M.H.R. for Napier, and several others.
