' I A Bye-Law to further regulate the Licensing and Management of Slaughter Houses and Abbatoirs, and the inspection thereof, and of cattle intended for slaughter in the County of Hawke's Bay. In pursuance of "The Counties Act, 1876. "and "The Slaughter Houses Act, 1877, "the County Council of Hawke's Bay do order as follows, that is to say— 1. Interpretation—Section number 1 of Bye-law No. 4 shall be deemed to apply to all bye-laws and regulations under "The Slaughter Houses Act, 1877." 2. It shall be deemed to be a condition upon which any Licence to keep a Slaughter-house is issued, that the holder thereof shall keep a book wherein shall be entered the full names of all servants from time to time employed in such licensed Slaughter-house, and the entry of each servants' name shall be signed by such servant; such book shall be produced to the Inspector upon demand,—lf any such holder shall enter into the said book the name of any person not bona fide his servant, or omit to enter therein the name of any servant or shall permit any person not, Soraa ./Me his servant, to slaughter in his Licensed Slaughter-house he shall forfeit and pay for each offence any sum not exceeding £5. 3. No cattle shall be slaughtered on Sundays in any Abbattoir, except during the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m On all other days every Abbatoir shall be kept open during the houre hereinafter specified for the slaughtering of cattle therein, and for skinning and dressing the carcases of the cattle, so slaughtered, such hours shall be from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. 4. No portion of any animal shall be delivered or removed from any abbatoir after 10 o'clock p.m. 5. No cattle to be left In the yards longer than 48 hours. 6 Pig 3 taken for slaughter shall not remain longer than 48 hours in sty prepared for them. No i pigs intended to be killed will be permitted to be fi.d in the sty, yard, or precincts of the slaughter-yard. 7, No hides are to bo removed before inspect ion 1 which inspection must be done 24 hourafrom 1 slaughtering unless the Inspector Bhall deem it advisable for the proper carrying out of " The Slaugh- , ter House Act, 1577,' that the hide or hides should remain on the premises for such further period as to him may seem fit. 8. Whoever shall wilfully destroy or damage any . of the property appertaining to the Slaughter-yard, house, or premises, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5 over and above the amount of damage done 8. Any person who shall violate or fail to jbseive any rules, matters, or things laid down in these byelaws, or shall do that which he is not entitled or allowed to do under the authority of these byj-laws shall be deemed guilty ol an offence, and for each such offence shall forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding Five pounds. Monteith > The primary object of the Company is to procure within the town of Napier, a Kecreation Ground upon which the town residents and others can take part in Buch popular Athletic Sports as Cricket, Football, Caledonian Games, etc, without the great expense and inconvenience attendant upon travellinsr to such a distance as they are at present compelled > to do. To effect that desirable object the Company pro- ! pose to Lease the Napier Town Hall Reserve, or some other suitable ground, and to make such improvements as will be considered necessary. Tho Income of the Company will be derivable from therentß aceming from the various Athletic Clubs, Friendly fcoeieties, or others requiring the use of the Ground for Sports, Fetes, etc., and it is estim--1 ated that extremely moderate charges for such pur- '» poses will amount to sufficient, to carry on the business of the Company and leave a balance to be devoted to further improvements and ornamentation of the Grounds, as the Shareholders deem advisable. Such a Ground is much required and will be an ornament and convenience to tho town, and the J iacilities afforded for Athletic excercise cannot fail d to be greatly conducive to health, and also the I- means of saving considerable expense and inconvenience to tho members of the various , Clubs and Friendly Societies, who incur heavy travelling expenses in proceeding to hold their festivities and games at a distance from town.
