I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Bottled Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains - Alcohol by weight, 5"40 per cent J or by volume, 655 per cent. Extractive master, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, o'l7 per cent. 1 have also examined the Alb for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Bkeks for the late International Exhibition, as tbose to which especial prominence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per oentaste : 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd ,Ib. sence of fusel oil; and all those are fulfilled in tins sample.
