October 5.

Telegrams received to-day from Pretoria announce that the Volksraad has concluded its consideration of the report of the committee appointed to decide upon the ratification or rejection of the Transvaal convestion, and it lias further transpired that, in accordance with the orders of the Volksraad, President Kruger has telegraphed to the Imperial authorities in London that it has been decided that the convention is contrary to the spirit of the Land River treaty. Protest is, moreover, against the provisions of several of the clauses of the convention, and their modification is requested.
