Badsworth went three times round the plough, and came along the last hundred yards. He looks on the big side yet. Foul Play went three times round with sweaters on, and was very fresh. Angler was sent twice round at a good pace in company with a hack. Prim was sent three times round, a couple of hacks falling in with her. If this mare can treat the horses in the Flying Handicap as she did her companions this morning she will have an easy win. Walters' horses did not appear. I fancy the chances of Mischief and Foul Play for the Spring Handicap to all others I have seen going. The Squire for the Guineas—Kingcraig if he should be fit and well would have a big way, but I think he is now off a lot.
Although the Theatre was not crowded last night the audience was large enough to show the Lydia Howarde Company that they are regarded<here as old favorites, and as eaoh well-remembered face appeared on the stage there was a hearty burst of applause to welcome the return. Looking as young and as handsome as ever Mies Lydia Howarde was in as good voice and as vivacious as when she first.paid Napier a visit. Miss Jennie Nye seems to grow younger, and sings and acts more charmingly than ever. Miss de Glorian has also greatly improved; and a promising actrees the company possesses in Miss Vincent. That old favorite Harry Power is more mirth provoking the more he sees of men Ettid things; and a tower of Rtrength has keen secured in Mr Fisher. The Lydia Howarde Company maintain their rejmtatiou for govereous* dresses; and for the representation of pieces abounding in good eongs, and dialogue full of wit and humour, "II Trovatore" extravaganza with which they opened last nijrlit allowed full scope for the versatility of tho compriiiy. The acting uud Hinging were fi sfc rate. There was a remarkably sweet duet between Mins Lydia Howarde and Miss Jennie Nye introduced in the first act; there was a comic song from Mr Fisher that created roars of laughter, and the acting of Mr Power, as Azucena, waa extremely comical and clever. Last night's programme is to be repeated this|evening, and there should be a bumper, house.
