WAIPAWA COUNTY COUNCIL.
THIS DAY.
Present: All the members.
The motion passed at last meeting, that the road from Waipukurau to the south boundary of tbe Epariama Riding be taken over by the Council, was coofirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Colonial Under-Secretary, re application for a gratuity to Mr H. Arrow, informing the Council that, as Mr Arrow had received a pension from the Government for other services, they could not grant more. From the assessors appointed to consider Mr Collins' application for damages to property by opening quarries on his land. The damages were assessed at £5. Amount granted. From the Colonial Secretary for a list of persons having plural votes in the County. The clerk said the application had been responded to. From Mr Lundgren, offering to give £1 and remove the Council's office at Norsewood. Refused, tenders to be alled to purchase the same.
From W. J. Graham, asking the Council to make fit for use the line from No. 1 road to the Heretaunga settlement. Requested to apply to the Danevirk Road Board.
Norman Campbell applied for a grant of £20 to open a road from Peebles' to Mangaatua stream. Requested to apply to the Woodville Road Board.
From Norman Campbell, offering timber at 11s 6d per 100 feet for bridges, etc., at the Seventy-mile Bush. Informed that any timber required by the Council would be purchased by tender.
PETITIONS.
From settlers of Norsewood, asking to have a road from section 75 to 74 and 88 to 89. Requested to apply to the Road Board.
From settlers of Makaretu, asking to have the road through Spring Hill open. Requested to apply to the Road Board. From residents of South Makaretu (an outlying district) for a grant of £30 to fell bush a chain wide between Grant's and Bargrove's. Ten pounds was voted.
