RESIDENT MAGISTRATES COURT WAIPAWA.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5.

(Before H. Eyre Kenny, Esq., R.M.)

Anderson v. Merritt.—Claim £19 4s 4d, wages. Plaintiff acknowledged getting a cheque several days since from defendant for £18, which had not been presented yet. Judgment was given for balance of £l 4s 4d, with costs and expenses. White v. Wille.—Claim, £5 10s 6d, dishonored cheque. Sergeant Kidd said he was instructed by the clerk of the Masterton R.M. Court that the amount sued for, with 7s expenses of summons, had been paid at Masterton. Mr White, the plaintiff, aeked that judgment be given for mileage fees £1 18s, and his expenses allowed. Judgment was given accordingly. Leach v. Vennersdale.—Claim £7 for goods and damage done to bullock-dray pole, and loss of standard. Judgment for tbe plaintiff, with costs, counsel's fee, and expenses of Leach and a witness. Vennersdale v. Leach. — Claim for wages £5. Judgment for plaintiff for £4 7a 6d, witb costs and expenses.

Graham \. Connolly.—Action to obtain order for maintenance of the illegitimate child of plaintiff, Jane Graham, of which John Connolly, the defendant, was the reputed father. Mr Lee, who appeared for defendant, said his client had repeatedly offered to marry plaintiff since the birth of the child, and was now willing, as before, to maintain and keep the child himself if plaintiff would give it up to him. This the plaintiff agreed to do, and His Worship made an order to that effect.

Mr Lee was the only legal representative present.
