Mr J. G. Wilson, of Sandon, is a candidate for the Foxton seat.
The steamer Wakatipu, which arrived from Sydney early this morning, proceeded at once to the quarantine station. She is expected to be admitted to partique at noon to-day. The following intercolonial weather exchange has been received :—Sydney, Tuesday eveuing. The barometer is now rising in Tasmania, but a second moderate depression is extending over the land from Portland to Sydney. The barometer at Portland and Sydney registers 29"8, and at Hobart and Brisbane 29*9.
