Major Stapp yesterday enrolled a number of settlers as volunteers and issued arms to them.
The Defence Minister has arrived here, and while approving of the action of the settlers in preparing for contingencies, says that he himself contemplates no difficulties.
The natives here are all quiet and at •work cultivating.
