The Union Steam Ship Company's s.s. Albion, Capt. W.. Webster, arrived in the roadstead at 5 a.m. this clay. Experienced light N.E. winds for first two days, and hitter part of passage ■moderate S.W. winds and fine weather from Sydney. The outward passengers for Southern ports and Melbourne were taken off by the launch Boojnm shortly after 12 o'clock, but the steamer had not sailed up to the time our reporter left the Spit. The steamer Oreti, Captain Alexander Campbell, which arrived here at 2.30 a.m. this day from the North, reports as follows : —Left Auckland at 9 o'clock on Friday night, with a heavy E.N/F , .. wind, accompanied with thick weather and rain, which lasted till arrival at Gisborne on Sunday morning at 10.30 a.m.; left again at 10 p.m. on Sunday, with a fresh southerly wind, which increased to a gale with very heavy sea, compelling her to tnke shelter ut Hnppy Jack's until 5.30 p.vr>. yesterday, when she started again, tind arrived here as above. Just before reaching Gisborne she sighted the schooner Advance in distress, with her main topmast gone, and her sails all split, drifting to leewnrd, so she took her in tow and brought hei , into Poverty Bay. The steamer is announced to sail again for GisbDrne and Auckland at 5 p.m. The Union Company's launch Boojum, Capt. Maloney, is announced to steam for Wairoa with passengers and cargo at 12 o'clock to-night. The steamers Result and Maori are expected to get away to-night, the former for Wairoa, nnd the latter for Wairoa and Mohnka, taking passengers and cargo. The s.s. Kiwi is to leave for Gisborne at 4 o'clock this afternoon, with a large quantity of cargo, including a locomotive engine, shipped at Wellington for the Gisborne and Ormond tramway. The ship Hermione was removed to the inner anchorage at noon to-day, having discharged her ballast, preparatory to loading for London. The barque Cooleen, 629 tons, will be here early in October for the New Zealand Shipping Company.

The Merchants Shipping and Underwriter's Association report the arrival of the ships Arabella from Lyttelton (sailed July 1), and Lividia! from the Bluff (sailed June 28). Melbourne, September 26. Arrived, this morning "Union Company's steamship Te Anau from the Bluff. Sydney, September 26. Arrived, this morning, TTnion Company's steamer Ringarooma from Auckland.
