MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

[To the Editor of the Daily Tblbqeaph.] Sir,—lt appears to me that the Municipal Council is a kicking block for all wind' lag effusions, both for persons in and out of the Council. I think it shows bad" taste for those in the Council especially, for I notice on every occasion that opportunity occurs (let it be ever so trifling, and very often do not concern tbe public at all), a long letter appears couched with language and venom against certain members of the Council who are old residents, and held a seat in the Council ever since the first eleBV tion. Sir, you will agree with me that it shows bad judgment on the part of those persons who are trying to court popularity at the expense of others. Result is the proof of all things, so if tbe people of Napier think the abused councillors are not fit to look after their interest ask them to resign, andJL believe it would be done. I may say if tf certain councillor persists in speaking and writing so malignantly about others, for no other reason only to bring his nonsensical eloquence before tbe public, there are sure to be resignations, and then the difficulty will arise to get proper men in the Council, which I ana doubtful about. Some one may get in by the back door, or persons of the same kidney may get in at the front door, if there is no one to prevent them.—l am, &c. Fair Plat. September 23, 1881. ————^—————■
