I have examined the Samp.k of MEwin's Rottlbd ' Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains Alcohol by weight, 5-40 per cent; or by volume, 6"65 per cent. Extractive matter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, 017 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first eonoitiona laid down by the Committee for Wines and Bebrs for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be Riven, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centage: 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Ab-seir-o of fusel oil ', and all these ire fulfilled in this sample, I remain, yours truly, (Signed) W.
