NEW SOUTH WALES.
Sydney, September 16. Over the Walker Whisky prizes, Laycock, referring to rumors, said he was grieved to hear that several gentleman for whom he had the highest respect should have been so far mistaken as to express opinions that his rowing was not honest. If they had known his actual condition he felt sure they would give their empathy. Some days prior to the race he had been nuwell, and at one time he resolved to pay the forfeit to Rush, but he recovered a little. He believed then he was good enough to win, but the result proved different. His friends lost heavily on the race.
