I have examined the Samplb of M'Ewin's Bottled Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains - Alcohol by weight, 6"_o per cent; or by volume, 6 "55 per cent. Extractive maHer, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, o'l7 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. Tho three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Winbs and Beers for tho late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per cantage : 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these ~re fulfilled in this sample.
