NEW PLYMOUTH.

September 22. The steamer Tui was floated off the bank at Waitara, and now lies alongside the wreck of the Samson, where she will be repaired. A telegram to the Herald from Pungarehu says tbat the natives have gone down to the fences every day in large numbers, the partiee being between 350 to 500 strong. They bave maintained tbe fences without hindrances, although within sight of tbe Constabulary camps. The natives are masters of the situation, and appear quite content to let matters rest therefore at present without taking any further action. The Constabulary refrain from interfering with the natives until the Natiye Minister arrives. Tohu held a meeting on Sunday night, and delivered a long speech to the natives. He told them to be careful and not misunderstand what Te Whiti had said to them. They were merely to resist the Constabulary at the fences. They were on no account to use firearms until tbey were fired on by tbe Constabulary. If the Constabulary tried _to pull down the fences they were to resist, and if tbey attempted to take any native prisoners they were to prevent it. If blows were struck they were to return the blows, but on no account were they to shoot unless they were fired upon. A few natives left Parihaka on Sunday, but returned again last night, having sold their horses, ploughs, etc., at a great sacrifice to raise money.
