The "little difficulty" that has overtaken Mr Senouf, or rather that has been discovered, by which it is doubtful whether he can take his seat in the Council, is not at all satisfactory to the electors who wished him to represent them. Upon the actual question of his disqualification through being a eurety for Municipal contractors we cannot pretend to pass an opinion, as it may now be said to be subjudice. We may, however, say this much, that, in the event of Mr Renouf being declared disqualified, should Mr Graham bo entitled fo the V2cant seat, he cugbt to go to the electors for their approval. At the election Mr Graham was beaten by almost three to one, and the whole of the burgesses did not vote. Under such circumstances Mr Graham could not be regarded as a representative membpr of the Council; he would take his seat only by virtue of having been a candidate, certainly not •as having been elected. We will do Mr Graham the justice to say that we do not believe he covets a seat in the Council for any other reason than to serve the interests of the North Ward, and that if he hud consulted his own feelings in the matter he would not have come forward at all. Such being the case it would be in every way more satisfactory to himself, as well as to the electors, if, in the event of his being entitled to the seat to which Mr Renouf was elected, Mr Graham waived a claim of which a legal technicality unexpectedly put him in possession.
