September 13,

Telegrams are to hand from Tunis reporting that the Arabian insurgents made an attack to-day upon the French position at Zaghouau, about fifty miles to the south of this city, in great force, completely surrounding the camp. Desperate fighting ensued, and continued for several hours, with heavy loss on both sides. It is further stated that the Arabs have broken down tbe aqueduct vvhich supplies the city of Tunis with water. Great alarm continues to be felt throughout the Principality at the attitude of the native tribes.
