CHRISTCHURCH.
September 13. [t is reported that Sir George Grey and Mr S. P. Andrews will be requested to contest the two Ohristchurch Beats at the forthcoming election. The Com Exchange, acting on behalf of the farmers of Canterbury, baa adopted a petition to the General Assembly against the ruinously high rates on the railways for the carriage of agricultural produce.
