On the motion for going into committee on Thermal Springs District Bill, Mr Andrews admitted that the measure was a useful one, but pointed out several clauses be thought were likely to clash with the object aimed at. In committee he would move in the direction of preventing these springs from becoming property of any one, contending as he did that they should continue the property of the Crown. To meet the views expressed by the Maori members, he would be agreeable that the provision of the Act as it stood should in the first instance be confined to Taixranga aucl East Taupo. He agreed in the opinion expi'essecl that this was a great national undertaking, and would be tho means of inducing a large tourist population to visit J-Tew Zealand.
