Melbourne, January 8.1880. I have examined sample of M'Ewak'sj Edinburgh India Palk Alb submitted to me, and, aa a sample of what can be done by a good, honeafc brewer, it is perfect. No foreign cheap bitter, suou as Quassia—no Poisonous Drug , * such aa Strychnine, Picric, Acid or Cocculue Indicus. Nothing but the Products op Pure Malt and Hops; brewed and fermented in a cool atmosphere, and bottled with care. Admirers of first-class British Beer may use this brand aa at present offered for rale without disappointment. As a pure wholesome Bottled Alb it may be strongly recommended. WU. I have examined tht Sampik of M'Ewin's Bottled Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains — Alcohol by weight, 540 per cent; or by volume, G'ss per cent. Extractive matter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, 017 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Beers for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial pro- ' minence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic percentage: 2nd, Freodouafrom acidity; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these :ire fulfilled in this sample.
