JOHNSON, Analytical Chemist to the Government ol Victoria. Chemical Laboratory, School of Arts, Sydnky, May 13.1880. I have examined the Sample oi M ; Ewin's Bottled Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains - Alcohol by weight, 640 per cent; or by volutno, 6 - 55 per cent. Extractive matter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, 0"17 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence.
