(By Battle-axe.) Of the seventeen acceptances for the Spring Handicap Foul Play heads the list with 9st 71b. Fit and well I should look no further down the list for the winner. But I do not think he could be got ready in the time, for he is a horse that wants a long preparation. King Quail, with Bst, is not in my reckoning. Grand Duchess, 7st 71b, is not badly treated, but she can never be depended upon. Badsworth, with 7st 71b, will be hard to beat if his feet do not trouble him, and My Dream, 2lbs lighter weighted, is not to be despised. Rewi, 7at3lb, and Mischief, 7st, cannot complain ; but Mavis, with only Gst 101b, is the best treated one in the Handicao. It is perfectly surprising to find that so many have accepted, seeing the manner in which she has been thrown iv. With what she has to carry she can hold all the three-year-olds as safe as houses. Rawdon I know nothing about, and now that his stable companion Afghan is dead I hardly think he is a likely starter. Angler, with 6st 3lb, would be better If the distance was half a mile longer, but I doubt whether he is fast enough. Kincraig, Sydney, The Squire and Uira, are scarcely worth mentioning in this race, nor was Firefly, which has since been scratched. Slander filly bas nothing to complain of. The race in my opinion will be between Mavis, Mischief, My Dream, and Badsworth, the first named for choice. The Flying Handicap may be passed over for the present, as so many of the same horses have accepted for both events. There are only five acceptances for the Hurdles. Loch Lomond, though top weight, is thrown in at list 21b. Morning Star ought to have Gibs less than Lomond instead of 2lbs, but as it is I fancy he will make it a hot game to beat him. TJira should not complain with 10st., but she is scarcely fast enough for the other two, and the same may be said of Ada and Will-If-I-Can.
