I have examined sample of M'Ewan _ Edinburgh India Palb Alb submitted to me, and, as a sample of what can be done by a good, honest brewer, it is perfect. No foreign cheap bitter, such as Quassia—no Poisonous Drug, such an Strychnine, Picric, Acid or Cocculus Indicus. Nothing but the Products of Pure Malt and Hops, brewed and fermented in a cool atmosphere, and bottled with careAdmlrers of first-class British Beer may use thia brand as at present offered for sale without disappointment. I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Bottlbd Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains - Alcohol by weight, 5-40 per cent; or by volume, 6*55 per cent. Extractive niaHer, 3'OG per cent.; Acid matter, 017 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients a. are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Beers for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be given, were—lst, Lew alcoholic percentage: 2nd, Freedom from acidity; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these ire fulfilled in this sample, I remain, yours truly, (Signed) W.
