September 5. Miss Pomeroy opened in Cymbeline on Saturday to a crowded house. She was enthusiastically received, being called at the end of each act. Mr Hoskins also received a flattering reception. Marshall, the cook of the schooner Mary Ogilive, who was reported drowned, has turned up. The police unsuccessfully dragged all yesterday for the body. The mate says he left him at midnight on Saturday to go on board, but Marshall, being tbe worse of liquor, declined to go' aboard. The Chief Justice having to perform the duties of Acting Governor, Judge Gillies takes the Otago circuit next month.
At a meeting of Clayton's creditors today a motion was proposed to give him bis discharge, but it was negatived by the creditors representing value. Eleven voted for the discbarge, and three against. A similar vote took place on the question of maintenance.
