LONDON.
September 1. At the wool sale to-day 8,500 bales were catalogued, making a total of 81,500 bales offered since the opening. A firm and active demand was experienced. The withdrawals to date amount to 6000 bales. September 2. The mutton broupht to this market in the steamship Protos has been sold at an average of 6|d per pound. September 3. Mr James Lowther, the Conservative candidate, has been elected for North Lincolnshire by a large majority in the room of the deceased Liberal member, Mr R. Laycock.
