SYDNEY.
September 1. In the Legislative Assembly last night the debate on Mr Copeland's motion censuring the Government for the manner in which the quarantine regulations have been enforced was resumed, but after discussion was negatived on a division by 63 votes to 11. The latest bulletin from the quarantine station states that Clement Lindsay, one of the hospital ship Faraway, died last night. All the rest on board are doing well. In the infected enclosure Ellen Lindsay and Ally Trevoe are delirious. The others are progressing favorably. A new meat preserver with conseive salt was tried at Grafton to-day with great success. It is stated that this method will probably come into general use. September 2. A fresh case of small-pox, the sufferer being a man named Elliott at Newton, is reported. In the Legislative Assembly last nietht, during the discussion of the Ringbarking of Timber Bill, Mr McElhone said he would advise people who were deprived of public land to shoot down like dogs those who kept them from their just estate, aud he would find money for it.
