I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Rottled Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains - . Alcohol by weight, 5 - 40 per cent; or by volume, 6 - 55 per cent. Extractive niaiter, 306 per cent.J Acid matter, o'l7 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by tLc _~_-- mittee for Wines and Beers for tlic late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be Riven, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centacre: 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these are fulfilled in tbi3 sample.
