ASHBURTON.
August 30. A woman named Lancaster attempted suicide by drowning yesterday, but she was rescued. Her four children were committed to the Burnham Industrial School last week as neglected children. A quantity of property, amounting to £156 in cash, and two gold and one silver watches, were found concealed in the bed of a man named Little, recently a hotel-keeper at Hinds, aud who lately became baukrupt. He will be prosecuted.
