(from our own correspondent.) Wellington, August 29,
On Saturday the Standing Orders Committee met to consider the introduction of the cloture into New Zealand parliamentary procedure. It was argued that the Speaker was already enabled to put the cloture into operation by the power given to him to follow in matters not provided for in the custom of the House of Commons, but bhe Committee declined to assume the responsibility of adopting the innovation. The Privilege Committee appointed by the Council met on Saturday, and took the evidence of Messrs Eeeves and Brown in reference to the sale of the honorarium by members of the Council. The report of the Committee will be laid in all probability before the Council on Tuesday.
