August 24. At the wool auction to-day 9,200 bales were catalogued. A firm an active demand was experienced. The present series of wool sales will terminate on the 14th October, and the fourth series commences on the 22nd November. August 25. Intelligence is to hand from Ireland announcing that serious rioting has taken place at several towns in County Limerick between the police and the people. The following awards to colonial exhibitors at the international wool show at the Crystal Palace are announced : —For washed crossbreds and combing wools, the Government of New Zealand, first ; Messrs Simson, Wilson, and Russell, and the Government of New Zealand, second ; Messrs John Ware (Victoria) and Carter, third. For washed clothing wool, Prince George Zu Schoenich Carolath, of Mellendorf, Prussia, takes first prize.
