WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The Board assembled this day at 11 o'clock.
Present : — The Commissioner and Messrs Lambert, Harding, Tanner, and Williams. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and confirmed, The following correspondence was read and considered. Memo: From Under-Secretary of Crown Lands, directing attention to notification that certain lands have been permanently reserved. From Mr Grant, secretary Ormondville Small Farm Association, relative to transfer of section selected for the late Mr Adam Smith. The Chairman reported that as this letter required early attention he had answered it, and read his reply, which was approved by the Board. From Mr Michael M'Cartby, regretting the Board cannot reduce the price of land purchased by him at auction, also acknowledging receipt of notice that unless he tsmplies with conditions under which he urchased the land will be forfeited, and stating that he is unable to make the requisite requirements. It was resolved Mr M'Cartby should be informed that the Board has no power to alter the conditions under which the land was taken up. The report of the Ranger on the smallfarm allotments selected under section 63 of the Land Act, 1877, was read, and it was resolved that the selectors ot section 8, block IX., in the Tahoraite survey district, and section 18, block VIII., Kumeroa, having fulfilled the condition of their licenses so far as relates Jlo the first year of occupation ; also that the selectors of section 11, block 111., Kumeroa, and section 10, block IX., _ in tbe Tahoraite survey district, not having complied with the conditions under which they occupy their right to hold and acquire the land, is forfeifed in accordance with sub-section 10 of section 63 in tbe Land Act, 1877. The Board then adjourned.
