The three-masted schooner Fra.nk Guy, which arrived hero from Newcastle yesterday forenoon, was lowed inside by tV° &- s - Sir Donald this morning, and moored ai" , the breastwork, where she is discharging .her cargo of coal, consigned to Messrs and Co. Captain Balle has kindly f urnishea us with the following report of passage : — Loft on Friday, the 12th inst., with a fresh W. breeze, win oh next day hauled to *>. and S.S.E. ; carried a strong S.E. breeze all the way ncross ; could not fetch Cook Straits, so shaped north about, rounding Cape Maria Van Dieman on Thursday, the 18th, and North Cape the same day some time later; kept S.E. weather until passing East Cape on Monday, the 22nd ; thence light variable winds' until off Portland Island yesterday morning, when a strong S.E. breeze brought the schooner to tho anchorage as above. The movements of the Union Company's boats thi? week, as far as can at present be ascertained, are as follows : —The s.s. Arawata, Captain Sinclair, does not le.iive Auckland till to-morrow, and she will therefore not arrive hero before Sunday morning. She is announced to sail for Southern ports and Melbourne at 10 a.m. The s.s. Rotorua, Captain Tozer, leaves Wellington to-morrow night, and is duo here on Saturday forenoon. Her advertised time of departure for Northern ports is 4 p.m. The steamer Go-Ahead, Captain Doile, was exp3cted to arrive here this morning from Wellington direct, but had not put in an appearance up to the time our report left the Spit. She is advertised to steam for Ly Welt on direct at 3 p.m. to-morrow. A small sailing ci'aft was in the offing as wo went to press, probably the ketch Venus, timber laden from Mercury Bay. The steamers Sir Donald and Fairy are still waiting a favorable opportunity to proceed to the coast.
