A new comic opera, entitled " Tho Bruisers of Timaru," (says the Saturday Advertiser), is about to be placed on the boards by Mr Cary, when the " Pirates of Penzance " is played out. Ed : All sense of kindly feelings we must smother, The Staff: We must smother. ■•• d : When stabbing in the dark i 3 to be done, The Staff : To be dono. Ed : Ah, take one consideration with another, 1 he Staff: With another. Ed : The Editor's lot ia not a happy one, When stabbing in the dark ia to be clone The Editor's lot is not a happy one. (Chorus of Bruisers, without, in the distance) A rollicking band of bruisers we, We've come to Christehurch for a spree, Aud we will take the Liberty To make this office gory. Id .- Hush ! hush! I hear them in the .-■qiiai-c approaching ; Juat tell them, boy, that I'm gono out a-poaching. (Bruisers enter, singing chorus). We've come, you see, from Timaru, don't go out, we're wanting you.
