THE HOSPITAL.
TTo the Editob o$ the Daily Telegbaph.] Sib,—l wrote you on Saturday to contradict a misstatement relative to the auditing of the Hospital accounts. The statement made, that the accounts had not been published, is correct, so it called for no correction. It is tbe practice in most places to publish at the end of each year, in pamphlet form a statement of receipts and expenditure, list of subscribers, surgeon's report, &c, and I agree that this should be done here. The same writer in this morning's paper says that I " cannot point out a single instance where the committee have appointed an auditor." The minutes of committee meeting held on 30th January, 1880, record that " Messrs E. Lyndon and S. J. Williams were appointed auditors." Again, on tbe 2nd February, 1881, the following appears—" Moved by Mr Smith, and peconded by Dr. De Lisle, that Mr S. J. Williams and Mr E. Lyndon be appointed anditors. Carried." This should satisfy " Verax." Upon getting the cash book this morning I find these gentlemen have audited the accounts since the 31st December iast, as I believed, but did not know for a fact when writing on Saturday.—l am, &c,
