I have examined the Samplb of M'Ewin's Rottlbd Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains - Alcohol by weight, s'_o per cent; or by volume, 655 per cent. Extractive matter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, 017 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Brbrs for the late International Exhibition, as those to which espetial prominence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centaee : 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these we fulfilled in this (sample.
