LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

Wednesday. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. BILLS. Mr Whitaker introduced the Supreme Court Procedure and Practice Amendment Bill, which was read a first time. Mr Scotland moved the socond reading of the Law Practitioners Bill. Mr Whitaker opposed it, and moved the rejection of the bill. Mr Wilson supported the bill if limited to the admission of barristers. Messrs Reynolds and Waterhouse sup' ported the bill, and Messrs Frazer and Grace opposed it. The debate was interrupted by the 5.30 adjournment. The Council resumed at 7.30. The Law Practitioners Bill was thrown out on a division by 20 to 6. The Bible in Schools Bill passed through committee with amendments. The Council then rose.
