T have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Rottlbd Alk submitted to me, and find that it contains - Alcohol by weight. 5*40 per cent; or by volume, 655 per cent Extractive nutter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, o'l7 per cent. I have also examined the Ale for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes ndded to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three flrft conditions laid down by the Committee for V; inks and Beers for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prouiinejice would be piven, were—let, Low alcoholic pt-r centre : 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd AbHcni'p of fusel oil; and all these ire fulfilled in this tample.
